The SYP's Subject Committees
The Scottish Youth Parliament does the majority of its work in 10 Subject Committees which each take responsibility for a specific area of policy. All Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) are members of a Subject Committee and are led by an elected Convener.
Conveners are elected by the whole SYP and take on responsibility for co-ordinating the work of their Subject Committee and become the lead spokesperson on that area. The Committee also choose a Deputy to assist the Convener.
But Subject Committees are not just for MSYPs, anyone can attend or help out in the Committees and when you register for the site, you can express an interest in the work of the committee you are most interested in.
Clicking on the links on the left will tell you a bit more about each of the Committees and all the things they are working on.
A Manifesto for Scotland's young people!
This year is one of the most exciting yet for the SYP and its Subject Committees; after a lot of hard work putting together political statements which truly reflect the wishes of Scotland's young people, these have now been collated into a full-scale consultation document, which we're now taking to the streets!
With over 6,000 responses from young people the manifesto represents one of the biggest consultations of its type - we now need to convince the people who make decisions that they should listen to what those young people said.
