Sponsors of SYP Awards 2018:
The Wood Foundation, in association with
the Youth Philanthropy Initiative

The SYP Awards 2018 are being kindly sponsored by The Wood Foundation, in association with the Youth & Philanthropy Initiative.  Set up by Sir Ian Wood and immediate family in 2007, The Wood Foundation (TWF) is a Scottish –based charity with a global outlook who recognise that money alone will not solve some of society’s greatest inequalities.  In the UK, TWF key focus areas include youth philanthropy, global citizenship, developing Scotland’s young workforce, and childhood poverty.

The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is an active citizenship programme that raises awareness amongst young people about philanthropy and their local community.

Each participating school, each year is responsible for directing a £3,000 YPI grant to a local charity through a unique programme of team work, research, and competition.

YPI Scotland is all about creativity and passion, leaving the four walls of the classroom behind, and supporting the issues young people care most about.

Originating in Canada, YPI is now an international programme and, in 2017/18, is being delivered in 230 secondary schools across Scotland. To date, YPI Scotland has engaged over 135,000 students, providing them with the essential skills and confidence to grant over £2 million to thousands of local charities. The programme is principally funded and managed in Scotland by The Wood Foundation.
