Scottish Youth Parliament announces newly elected Chair, Vice Chair, and Board of Trustees.

At the 60th Sitting of the Scottish Youth Parliament in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) elected leaders from within their membership during their Annual General Meeting (AGM). On Saturday 2 July 2016, Terri Smith MSYP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith was elected Chair, and Ewan McCall MSYP for Kilmarnock and Irvine Valley was elected Vice Chair. The following members were elected as the Board of Trustees; Amy Lee Fraioli MSYP from Rutherglen, Molly Kirby MSYP for Scot Scotland, Kirsty McCahill MSYP for Ayr, and Thomas McEachan MSYP for Glasgow Pollok.

Speaking after the AGM in Stornoway SYP Chair Terri Smith MSYP said:

"It is a huge honour to be elected as Chair of the Scottish Youth Parliament, and to represent young people all over Scotland. I also want to extend my congratulations to Ewan McCall MSYP, our newly elected Vice Chair, and the rest of our new Board of Trustees. I'd like to thank our previous Board for their hard work and commitment to this incredible organisation. We will continue the work of promoting the Scottish Youth Parliament, and ensuring that all young people in Scotland have their say on the issues that affect them.

"I am looking forward to the exciting year ahead. Myself, the SYP Board, and all MSYPs will be working hard to ensure that Scotland is a fair society, and one that listens to and values the opinions and rights of young people."
