Young People's Views presented to Calman Commission

The Scottish Youth Parliament welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Commission’s work, but has chosen to do so by conducting a survey of Scotland’s young people which will be used to provide the same response as to the National Conversation consultation.

Whilst the Scottish Youth Parliament recognises that the two consultations have their differences, it is our belief that the debate essentially comes to down to the level of power the people of Scotland wish to invest in the Scottish Parliament and therefore, we believe, that by conducting a survey of young people asking questions of our own (based on existing consultation questions) we are in the best place to represent Scotland’s young people without allying ourselves in a potentially party-political way.
