Fancy standing for election to the SYP? Now's your chance! Elections are being held across Scotland, and if you're aged 14-25 you could be a candidate in them!
If you want to get involved, but don't want to stand for election, you can still vote. Click on the links for details for how to take part.
Listed below are upcoming MSYP elections grouped by local authority area. If you'd like more info, please get in touch with the local co-ordinator listed, as the SYP does not centrally control the elections.
Edinburgh
7th - 11th September
There are six constituencies in Edinburgh with a total of 11 seats. If you're aged between 14 and 25 and live in Edinburgh you can vote for who represents you as an MSYP!
Voting will take place in schools, libraries and other locations across the city. For information on the candidates, go to www.youngedinburgh.org

South Lanarkshire

Nominations are open now! Elections will be held for eight MSYPs across five constituencies. Voting will take place in September across South Lanarkshire and online at www.lanlinks.org

Nominations are open now! Elections will be held for four MSYPs across two constituencies. You need to nominate yourself by September, on the contact details below.

Elections already held
Fife
Fife successfully elected 10 MSYPs, getting the votes of over 3,600 young people from 19 high schools, 3 colleges and 2 YMCAs!
From June, Fife's MSYPs will be - Chris Burns, Anna Devine, Angus Duncan, Claire Ewing, Harley Fraser, Joanne Hodge, Alice Minick, Lauren Peek, Jill Pringle and Ryan Smart.
Dundee
Dundee elected four MSYPs with voting at high schools and community projects across the city. 2,761 votes were cast and the story even made the Dundee Courier. You can read all about it at the Courier site here.

From June, Dundee's MSYPs will be - Laura Gorman, Matthew Landsburgh, Laura-Louise Martin and Dale Whitton.
Dumfries & Galloway
2,944 votes were cast and have selected Dumfries and Galloway's fantastic new MSYPs.
Our new MSYPs in this area are as follows-Ami Kirk, John Brown, Laura Bell and Liam Bell.
East Ayrshire
Votes were cast at schools and youth clubs across the area. There were 12 candidates for the three seats, with 2,113 votes cast - almost twice as many young people as turned out to vote last time!
From June, East Ayrshire's MSYPs will be - Lesley Baird, Shannon Nani and Mark Rodger.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh saw a whopping 5,019 votes cast in this year’s Elections, and with 11 new MSYPs things are set to stir for sure!
Edinburgh’s new MSYPs are as follows- Alan Grant, Danielle Ward, Iain Arthur, John Beaton, John Bendo, Leyla Usmani, Nathan Duncan, Paul Sloan, Rachel Hughes, Terri Miller and Tom Sparks.
North Ayrshire
There were four candidates for North Ayrshire's two constituencies.
From June, North Ayrshire's MSYPs will be - Christie Clarke, Erin Mackenzie, Kieran Morrell and Ross Adrian.
Renfrewshire
Renfrewshire held elections at the start of April for their five MSYPs.
From June, Renfrewshire's MSYPs will be - Jodie Campbell, Rebbecca Garnett, Paul Robertson, Kris Sinclair and Megan Wallace.
North Lanarkshire
North Lanarkshire's elections were held online from 24th - 27th April. They broke their own impressive record in 2007 with 9,317 young people casting 13,674 votes! We believe this makes it one of Europe's largest ever youth elections, so congratulations to all those that organised and promoted the elections, as well as to the winning candidates!
From June, North Lanarkshire's MSYPs will be - Katie Bain, Rebecca Brown, Kelsey Caldwell, Naomi Dornan, Josh Kane, John McCann, Ashleigh McNeish, Chimuka Nyamutale and Liam Quigley.
Scottish Borders
Two of the Borders' three seats were up for election. Two candidates were returned unopposed.
From June, Scottish Borders' MSYPs will be - Liam Beattie, Stacey Grieve and Janie Orr.
Aberdeenshire
There were 15 candidates for Aberdeenshire's three constituencies. Voting took place entirely online.
From June, Aberdeenshire's MSYPs will be - Coral Ann Birnie, Rebecca Cox, Andrew Deans, Alex Gaskin, Conor McNeill and Faye Smith.
Highland
Voting took place online with voting sessions being held in schools and youth forums in the last week of May.
From June, Highland's MSYPs will be - Rowena Carlton, Rory Forbes, Siobhan McCulloch, Esther Richards, Amy Riley and Paige Shepherd.
Glasgow
Voting took place online in the last week of May. The election attracted almost 3,300 votes across the city. It also caught the eye of the Evening Times, who featured some of the winning candidates in the paper! You can read the article online at www.eveningtimes.co.uk/misc/print.php?artid=2513494

From June, Glasgow's MSYPs will be - Jawad Akbar, Keenan Alexander, Umer Ansari, John Carson, Charlotte Dunne, Kenneth Faulds, Amina Iqbal, Sara Khalil, Julie Lennox, Chelsea Marshall, Graeme McGhee, Claire McGinlay, Melissa Muir, Jamie O'Neill, Aamir Riaz, Austin Sheridan, Julie Trainer and Craig Whyteside.
Argyll & Bute
Elections were held on the Young Scot portal for two of Argyll and Bute's three MSYP places.
From June, Argyll & Bute's MSYPs will be - Anthony Allan, Jo Ellis and Rian MacAllister.
Voluntary Organisations
Three of our member voluntary organisations held their very first elections during the month of June! The new MSYPs will represent the interests of the organisations young service users in the SYP.
From June, BDA Scotland's MSYPs will be - Jamie Dow and Beatrice Webster.
From June, RNIB's MSYPs will be - Archie MacGregor and Gemma McIntosh.
From June Quarriers' MSYPs will be - Rebecca Docherty and Lizi Sutherland.
