Scottish Youth Parliament Members Census 2015-2017
At the beginning of a new Scottish Youth Parliament term, a membership census is undertaken in order to ascertain whether the elected Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament are representative of wider Scottish society in the corresponding age categories, across a number of key indicators.
Our most recent census for the 2015-17 membership was undertaken at the June National Sitting in Renfrewshire on Saturday 13th June 2015, the fifth census undertaken in the organisation’s lifetime.
The data collected was then compared with data for the corresponding age category Scotland wide, and where there is insufficient data, the wider population. Publications and dataset used include: the full Scottish Census; the Scottish Household Survey; and, a range of other Government and Third Sector publications and datasets, as well as previous SYP census data.
