The Scottish Youth Parliament is made up of 150 young people aged 14-25 from across Scotland who represent constituencies and national voluntary organisations. We have two elected Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) per Scottish Parliamentary constituency, with another 50 from national voluntary organisations.
Following the elections in Spring 2011, we ran a session at the June Sitting to explore the demographic breakdown of those newly elected and re-elected MSYPs in attendance. The June 2011 Sitting was our highest ever attended in the Scottish Youth Parliament's history with 132 MSYPs involved.
Overall, the results of the census revealed our membership to be extremely reflective of Scotland's young people and the population as a whole. Download the census here.
