Roars not Whispers

Roars not Whispers is an exciting and inspiring project which is open to any young person in Scotland. Run in partnership between the SYP and Oxfam, it is a fantastic opportunity for any 16-25 year old to create changes in their community. Participants in the project develop their knowledge and their confidence to become active citizens and seek to represent their communities at local, national and international levels. The team behind Roars not Whispers support them and provide them with the tools that will help them speak up and make their voice heard.

The project wants to increase the number of young people who will represent themselves and others and increase the number of young people who want to take action on issues of concern to them. This means standing up and promoting their views on whatever matters to them and their peers, and taking action on subjects which matter to them the most.

Roars not Whispers secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund and the first staff were employed in October 2006 - the initial funding comes to an end in August of 2009.
