We-CTV

We-CTV Programme

We-CTV is a programme being run by the Scottish Youth Parliament through funding from the Scottish Governments’ No Knives, Better Lives initiative.

no knives, better lives No Knives, Better Lives is a youth engagement initiative aimed at educating young people about the dangers of carrying a knife and the devastating personal consequences it can have on their own future, as well as on their family and friends.

It is also about giving young people good reason to feel that carrying a knife is not worth the risks or consequences, and helping to shape positive attitudes and influencing positive life choices by promoting diversionary activities.

We-CTV represents the opposite of CCTV – in this programme young people are operating the cameras, reporting on knife crime as they see it and seeking to spread the message among their peers.

filming The programme will be working in Glasgow Secondary schools in the new term, working with the young people to create a 2 minute campaign film on knife crime. It will also be open to youth groups across Scotland, working with young people aged 12 – 18 years of age.

The programme will culminate in an Awards ceremony, taking place in Glasgow this December, where the overall winner will be announced at the red carpet style event.
