Criminal Justice: stop and search powers for alcohol and the minimum age of criminal responsibility
In July 2016, the Scottish Youth Parliament co-hosted a Criminal Justice Discussion event with the Scottish Government, attended by 19 young people from a range of locations and backgrounds across Scotland. The purpose of the event was to gather young people’s views and experiences of police stop and searches for alcohol, and the minimum age of criminal responsibility. These views were then fed back to the Scottish Government to inform development of policy surrounding these issues. This report sets out the findings of the Discussion event and a focus group with young people from Polmont Young Offenders Institute.
